When it comes to protecting your PC, it's best that you know what's going on with the software you're using. Rising Personal Firewall lets you keep your computer safe without requiring you to do much.

Downloading the barely 7 Mb kit may not seem like much, but the installation process will take a little longer. You can skip a few steps if you want. Once you've done the necessary installation settings, a "finish" button will become available. But when the installation itself starts, you'll have to wait for the program to make itself at home. It will temporally disable your network access, so this may take a while.

The program is part of a larger security orientated software suite, so if you're familiar with other Rising programs, you'll find that the interface is almost identical to other programs from this family. Why change something if it's working fine? And Rising Firewall's interface works great.

Its functions are placed under three different tabs. The first is a network monitor which keeps track of your download and upload speed and the occupied bandwidth. It also creates logs which you can access, backup or export. The second tab is for network defence. Here, you can enable or disable certain features, such as network control, intrusion detection, URL filter and others. All are placed in a list with the enable/disable button right next to them. You can also find here a settings button which will bring up a more elaborate options window. The third and final tab displays a list of processes along with some information which help you find out, among others, if they're security related or not and many more.

Pros

You can just run this program and let it work in the background. If you want to make certain settings, the interface's design can make this happen with a few clicks.

Cons

There's nothing to really complain about this software. It does everything it's supposed to. All you need to make your PC secure is run Rising Personal Firewall and let it work in the background. The occasional settings can be done with minimum effort.
